The Executive Director position offers the opportunity to build durable systems, expand partnerships, and ensure that no one in Sisters Country misses essential medical care due to lack of transportation.

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the Chief Executive Officer of STARS and reports to the Board of Directors. The ED is responsible for:
Overall leadership
Operational excellence
Financial stewardship
Volunteer engagement
Community partnerships

Administration and financial management
Fundraising and resource development
Strategic plan implementation and Board support
Advocacy and community engagement
Volunteer/operations oversight

Strong organizational, leadership, and time-management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Experience in nonprofit management, volunteer coordination, fundraising, or community outreach.
Basic financial literacy and ability to manage budgets and reporting requirements.
Knowledge of nonprofit compliance, employment regulations, and tax reporting (or willingness to learn).
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Sensitivity to the needs of older adults, people with disabilities, and rural residents.
Experience building partnerships with community stakeholders and public agencies.
Conflict resolution and team-building skills.
Comfort using spreadsheets and donor/volunteer management software (or willingness to learn).
Passion for STARS’ mission of improving healthcare access through volunteer transportation.

Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends.
Reliable transportation and valid Oregon driver’s license.
Must pass DMV and criminal background check.
